write your list of your daily tasks. Then edit your list, crossing out the minor stuff and leaving the items that are truly important. You should end up with a one-page list that your boss can quickly glance at should the topic come up.
When you are ready, walk calmly and confidently into your boss's office and negotiate your raise. Negotiating is not a dirty word. You have to negotiate for your raise because it is a rare employer who will come right out and tell you what he or she is willing and able to pay. Keep in mind that your employer wants to keep expenses low, which conflicts with your goal of getting the most money for yourself and your family.
Hopefully, your boss will state a figure or percentage. Assume it is not a final offer but a starting point.
